Product Description
This is a 'generic' handle kit that can be retrofitted to most fly and mooching reels. It is held on by a countersunk screw on the inside, which threads into the handle post. This makes for a very secure handle setup! The knob is anodized aluminum (quality!) and measures approx 27mm long and 14mm wide at the top. Please note that the inside of the spool may need to be countersunk so the screw can sit flush. While this is not difficult or needed on all applications, it may be outside of the scope of some people's abilities. We can definitely help if needed! This is not just an enlargement of our 'Small" fly knob, this is a complete redesign with much larger components! The post itself measures 6mm...a far cry from the standard 4mm posts that manufacturers use. The set screw that holds it all together is a 4mm screw. This is a HUGE improvement over the tiny screw used. We also increased the length of the screw to solidify the post through the spool connection...these are tough!

fly reel knob
Knob is too big for an Orvis Hydros SLX reel. As suggested, I had to drill and countersink a significantly larger hole, but I also had to add a nylon spacer outside the spool to raise the metal base above the exterior trim of the spool. It was either that or mill the trim away, which would not be ideal. Now the balance is just a bit off, but the knob works great. The locktight on the machine screw is a nice touch. That should avoid the original problem of it falling off. All in all, a step up from the original knob.
